Ever I decide to go travelling, I like to get online the citypass. You can google city pass, since veery city has a different website. In this case, you can choose between these websites to buy your online citypass:

http://www.madridcard.com/ (altough it´s a spanish website, on your top leaft side you have English, French, German and Italian flags, so you click on one of those flags to choose your chosen language).

When buying this card online (which I find so much more practical), you can pick it up, not only in the tourist office in Plaza Mayor, but you can also pick it up at the airport (Terminals 4 and 2) and at the Atocha Station.

In Madrid there is lot´s to see and do. You will hear of the Golden triangle (which is the Prado Museum, The Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum and the Reina Sofia Museum).

On sundays, you have the cool El Rastro Market, which has everything from clothing, jewlery, food, antiques and collectibles. It starts early morning and goes until 2/3 pm.

Make sure, that when you arrive in Madrid, pass by a tourist office and find out the free museums on sundays (some include the Moseo del Traje (Costume Museum), Museo Nacional del Romanticismo (Romantic Museum), Museo de América and so on...)

There are usually different exhibitions and concerts around the year.

For me, a cool place to go and see the famous Flamenco, is Villa Rosa, near Plaza de Santa Ana. It has a bar side and the restaurant side. You don´t have to buy a ticket, but if you want to stay in the tables closest to the stage, you have to have dinner. If you don´t want to have dinner, there´s no proble, you can side on the bar side, have a drink (which usually they offer with oister, olives or some sort of snack to eat), and watch the show.
